Why SAAP Exists

Sometimes Insurance Isn't Enough

Many working adults and families in Franklin County have health insurance but still face challenges affording mental health care. High deductibles, copays, and other out-of-pocket expenses can create barriers that make it difficult to begin or continue therapy, even for those who are insured.

Supporting Access and Assistance Program (SAAP) was created to help address this gap. Our mission is to reduce financial barriers to mental health care by providing financial assistance for psychotherapy services to eligible individuals in Franklin County, Maine.

SAAP focuses on supporting working insured adults who may not qualify for traditional assistance programs but still need help managing the cost of ongoing therapy. By helping make mental health care more affordable, we aim to support continued access to care while preserving client choice and independence.

We believe that access to mental health support should not be determined solely by financial circumstances. Through community support, responsible stewardship, and a commitment to accessibility, SAAP is working to strengthen mental health outcomes and improve well-being throughout Franklin County.
